Most of you know 18d sets are not made new anymore.. how sad. Luckily they will be available for many many years refurbished- I have enough to supply my entire state I think. As much as I hate forced migration I can see after 21 years of having new Partner sets available, some people, if they still want new, need a nudge to buy a new platform. Our local competitors have done that for years- the product they carry change platforms every 3 to 5 years. So if your sets are 10-21 years old you should probably upgrade- just like you do with your computers. newer systems can still get new sets for a while, then refurbished only. The big news is Release 8 on the 500 is coming out in November. Heard the robust voice mail is going to be on a card- sd or plug in module I am unsure. One X becomes web based and a bunch of improvements.

Voicemail Pro is supposed to be an expansion module form factor.

I'm also hearing that we are to get "*8 (T)" on the embedded VM too. And yes, the way I understand it, VM Pro will be a module that you will put in the main chassis. Both are welcomed improvements IMO. Looking forward to R.8.

Yes. There is an internal Application server coming. Will have VM Pro and One-X Portal on it. Not sure of the user capacity yet, but it should be what the averages are.
I think this will be nice for demo purposes as well. We will be able to demo the unit WITH 1XP, something new.
Just wish the 96x1 phones would be out at the same time.

I think the internal server is a great idea. Hopefully it will be priced well too. Right now I am just using a netbook as my demo VMPro. It will be nice to have less clutter on the table when doing a demo.

Is call screening going to be avail. anytime soon? That's the major gripe out of one of our customers we put a 500 in for after their ACS went bad..

Really? I would think that teh biggest gripe would be the lack of "IP" in teh "IP" Office Partner Edition......
But to answer (but not really answer)...

The Partner version DOES support IP (aka SIP) trunks right off the bat. MY biggest gripe is that you must use Partner version with Partner phones. I'd WAY prefer to use IP Office version - or at least have the choice. And I'm fairly sure you can rig up call screening via VMPro. Mike
