I have a mitel SX-200 and there are 2 extensions that give you 3 quick rings when you pickup and put down the reciever. I've changed cards and the same ext. still do it. anyone seen anything like this? If so what can I do to fix it? Thanks Chris

First, please complete your profile.
EXTN COS is probably set up as a hot line extention.

No, I mean is the pbx analog or digital? If it's analog I can't help you because all I know about those is how to throw them away. If it's digital I might be able to help.

If it an old Sx200, pickup the phone and dial 444 ,This should reset any features which might have been advertently set, callback etc ,usually if they have any features set by a user they are programmed to give you a stutter dial tone when you pick them up, The numbers 444 might not be right, but it is three of the same digits.

My bet, it's a analog with generic 216 or 217, the ext. port is set in COS as a hotline to another ext. Mr. Grimm needs a tech who can re-program that for him. mark
he also needs to complete his profile.

In generic 217, the three rings mean call waiting. If the phone is on DND, which is a real pain w/ motel/hotel systems, then phone will not ring every twenty minutes as it will when not in Do Not Disturb mode. Which is why I always prefer the light option , rather than the ring option. Message waiting is cancelled at the console then the party calls back to get their message or ask why their phone is ringing. There should be a message wait button flashing on the console whenever an extention having a mssg. calls the attendant. I believe there are optoings for this feature that are hand. One is auto call the attendant next time the extension is picked up w/ message wait on it. The other option is auto cancel when the extension calls the attendant to get their messages. If you mean you get a stutter tone instead of rings... that will usually mean the extension is call forwarded and will do this until the call forward is cancelled at the extension or globally. This is a sx20/generic 503 feature but may be on the other generics also. Hope this helps. This site is great!
