Most carriers off a certain percent of up time, check your contract, that will give you more ammo. Should be over 90 %.

also if it has been down more then three times in 30 days for the same issue it may qualify as a chronics issue. If your carrier has a chronics group it should get some attention, though you may been to ask them to have chronics look into it. they normally will not offer

Your complaint will need to be filed against your service provider. You write your check to company A, not SBC. You have to open trouble cases with company A; SBC likely won't even talk directly to you because you are not their customer. Your company has to take the issue up with SBC and drive it to resolution. It's the follow-through part where most companies blow it.

Actually my issue is being handled by a chronics group and I have been calling them directly. I was told that were switched to a new pair after this latest episode. A few years ago here in Wichita we signed up with a provider who ran new fiber to our building. We are no longer with this company - they were called Adelphia then and are now doing business as TelCove here in Wichita. What I'm getting at: Is there a way to find out if there is a provider in the Oklahoma City area who can do this - get fresh lines installed all the way to the building? Would switching to Cox Communications (cable TV provider) be an option?

You can get lines installed from a variety of places. I am told Time Warner Cable does a good job around here, but have never worked with them.

You can do what I am doing, putting Voip dial tones in existing fine working systems. The local ISP has a Voip dial tone service and a Covad SDSL is used for 20 lines or more and shared T-1 or ADSL is used for fewer lines.

The Voip lines are less expensive, usually have a one or two day period of getting options the way the customers want them and then it is just good cheap dial tone. I use it in my office and it has been good for somewhat less than a year so far.

The best thing about voip or cable is that you can TAKE YOUR NUMBER WITH YOU WHEN YOU MOVE. To hell with the LEC and their policy of paying forwarding or foreign exchange lines.

I don't know about the competence of your local ISPs, ask them for a customer list of referrals.
