Anyone know what a pseudo dtmf receiver is? I've been troubleshooting "ghost" calls to the console that I believe come from the minibars in the guest rooms. I think what is happening is that the minibars, which don't detect dial tone, just come off hook, pause and dial "into the wind"; I think they are dialing the first part of a 4 digit hunt group number into dead air, and the trailing end into "slow" dial tone. It just so happens that the last two digits of the hunt group are 00. The minibar tech says he would have to go onsite and reprogram each minibar (252 of them)to dial a different number. This means I have to dig deeper (monitoring traffic reports) until the hotel calls reporting ghost calls. I believe that too many of his minibars are coming off hook at the same time causing slow dial tone due to busy dtmf receivers. Anyone have experience with this, and again, what is a pseudo dtmf receiver. I can't find it in the dox. Thanks!

In the past, ghost calls were a big issue on bad ONS line cards. Can the operators tell you the ext. number they see on the display, when the calls ring in??
Also, can you point the 'mini bar' exts to a different LDN when they dial '0'. That would at least verify your suspicions.
If you do need more DTMF, the universal card, w/quad receivers is still an option!

Problem is, they hooked the minibars up to the guest room phones. I can't change anything about what the minibars dial, that's what I want their tech to do, but I need evidence that the minibars are causing the problem; (traffic reports). Anyway, I did some testing on the ICP here at the office. It appears that the pseudo receivers are strictly for IP sets. This means I have only 16 actual dtmf receivers for the ons cards. Thanks for replying

From what you have said it does sound like the minibars are all programmed to dial in and report withing a short period of time and that could very well be causing your problem if they are not listening for dial tone. That being said I am somewhat aghast that the bars are using phone lines instead of IP/telnet. Is there a cabling problem?

Are the minibars using the same ports as the room phones? If so, how can traffic reports help determine whether it's the minibar, or the guests?
If they have their own dial tone, put them in a seperate tenant, and have their dial'0' calls to a different LDN key??

This was a new installation-last qtr of '08 so cabling was not a problem. The traffic report tells me how many extensions came off-hook and how many of those dialed into the hunt group. I'm looking at a report right now (from yesterday) that shows 539 call originations in the PBX in a one hour period. Those calls and 130 other functions that require a receiver pegged the dtmf receivers 669 times in an hour, producing 113 busy-pegs on the dtmf receivers and 85 extensions that had to wait 3 or more seconds for dial tone, 5 extensions that had to wait 2 seconds for dial tone and 23 extensions that had to wait 1 second for dial tone. The hunt group (2-port) for the minibar server was called 407 times in an hour. Of those 407 calls, 255 received a busy. And I've already programmed them to a differtent tenantt AND programmed Form 19 for that tenant to send all calls to the minibar server hunt group. I even activated campon for the guest rooms. These calls are not overflowing to the Oper.

Sounds to me that you have 2 issues. The first is definitely DTMF availabilty. The second, is that no matter how many simultaneous off-hooks you have, there are only 2 exts. in the hunt group??
The DTMF's can be added, but you can still only handle 2 calls at a time!

You're almost right fifty5footer: THEY have two issues. My switch is configured the way it's supposed to be. Kinda like buying a new car, slapping a nitro guzzling dragster engine into it and still expecting the warranty to fly. Anyway, I really appreciate you guys letting me use this forum as a sounding board. Thanks!
