I come across a lot of documentation that states consoles in a cluster should have a static ip address. Ours have been dynamic since the system was installed in 2006 and it seems to be working well, but I would like to follow Mitel's recommendations. In following some documentation from an installer tech no longer available, it says to remove the MAC from the console programming and program the ip in the DHCP static IP area, then plug in the console and go through the steps in the config wizard. When I plug the console in, it grabs an ip address automatically. Our DHCP scope is on a separate server, because we converted to Vlans and weren't sure at the time if the phone system would handle multiple subnets. Is this the problem?

You will have to put the Mitel options into the first DHCP server it is hitting to re direct it to the Mitel DHCP. Options 128,129,130 and the vlan options 132 and 133 will need to be put in. The console should then be re-directed to the Mitel controller (or other server) and pick up the IP address you have reserved.

We currently have the DHCP on the phone system disabled, so I will try this on our next scheduled network maintenance night.
