MS 53/54/55 all the same EXCEPT MS 53 no VM support or digital SS support MS 54 no digital SS support MS 55 has both VM and digital SS support.
Digital SS support means SS410/420
Standard SS support means SSIII and SSIV.
MS 50 and 51 and 3504 all had various upgrades to Trunks, ARS, SSIII/IV, Room Status. Too many changes to talk about. If you locate ANY CDE form sets for the early releases, filled out or blank, I'd love to get a set!
If you can lay your hands on an MS55 CD, some of the more important changes are in the bulletins section.
