Please remember that we generally try to restrict answers to user guide type info. Some of the info posted lately is way beyond that! You can say what, but not how. 'Check COS 214' as an example. That's what, but not how. 'Log into programming by punching 123 then abc then shift to caps and and typing XYZ. Select COS pull up 214 and make sure it's set to never' that's how. Besides, you may be getting into someone's bread and butter! If you want to get that type of info, request a PM. Of course that would require an up-to-date profile. (See how I managed to sneak that in there :p )

And don't hesitate to let me know if you think it's gone too far, I don't check in every day, but I do check my e-mail regularly.

LH,

I understand your comments but I have a question.
I was in the installers forum and noticed 2 guests.
How can there be a guest in a forum that requires special access privileges?

Also, in the installer forum are we not free to get into programming details and tech issues without worrying about end users picking up on insiders info?

Mitel Tech, I'm confused as well. What Lightninghorse was attempting to convey is that we can only tell you what to do, but not how to do it. The mindset of this forum is to protect customers from hack service people and to also protect legitimate dealers in the area who may have otherwise been entitled to a few nuggets for a service call.

In most cases, when we see someone who obviously holds the credentials of being a seasoned technician, a moderator will contact you via a private message or e-mail and negotiate private assistance. Sometimes, this assistance is offered for free, but in most cases, a token payment will be expected for the service.

My suggestion would be to send a private message or e-mail to one of the moderators of the particular category if you haven't seen any responses within 24 hours. Of course, if you have a critical situation, there's not going to be any harm done in escalating your question using these means.

Being scolded is something that we strongly avoid, but it happens. When this occurs, please use the 'report post' function of this page so that someone can step in to assist.

Mitel Tech... the guests that you see are actually approved members who have checked a box in their profile that prevents public viewers from seeing when they are logged in.
