Hi there....we have a DM16 and I have some questions:

1. where can I find the manuals for this key system? Any PDFs?

2. We have a slight hum, what needs to be fixed/replaced and at what cost?

Thanks and looking for any assistance.

1. The first one is easy. Click on the "MANUALS" link on this site.

2. Hummmmmm. What kind of hum?? Is it like an "electric" hum??--like a flourescent light hum or is it like a high pitched hum. Where is the hum coming from---handset, one phone, several phones...? When did the hum start?? Is the hum on the C.O. lines or is it on the intercom also? Give us some details. Tell us the story.

HI there and thanks for the quick reply....

I did look at the manuals here and could not find one for the DM-16...

regarding the hum, yes 60hz hum - can be heard when I pick up a line or dial internally....

Thanks Leon

While we're at it, does the DM16 have the capability to page all the stations, if so how?

Thanks, Leon

John at Manuals Plus can get you a manual for that system, tel-programmer doesn't have the old TIE stuff

You can page all extensions or just groups of extensions--I believe the system has four groups---the two digit codes are: 20--all extensions--then 21 to 24 for the 4 groups. Any extension NOT in the group will not receive the page. Paging Group Assignment is Program 4. You'll have to get the manual.
Good Luck.

As far as the hum is concerned---you'll have to determine where the hum is coming from. One of the things you can do--is take a phone(let's say extension 20)--unplug it from the wall jack---take it back to the KSU and plug it into the ext 20 port on the KSU. That will eliminate all of the wiring. If you still get a hum---then it's in your KSU or your phone---if you don't get a hum---then your wiring is picking up EF (electrical interference). If it's just a hum on the line--then it could be the line--or it could be a bad ground, or it could be imbalance in wiring for the C.O's--etc etc. You've got to to some detective work and eliminate hardware, wiring, jacks, and so forth. Good Luck

I got the manuals online, thanks for the tip.

Re:hum....it appears everywhere both local intercom and outside lines...now that I have the manuals I can try and do a little more detective work as I learn the system. Does the walltransformer supply AC or DC to the key system?

Thanks Leon

Most of those PSs supplied 24 volt DC. Get yourself a small multimimeter--doesn't have to be an expensive one. I use mine alot when I'm checking. It's alot better than guessing.
