I have a customer that has a full PRI installed on there system and they are going to be switching carriers they are going with a dynamic T1 with a PRI hand off .my question is with the D-Channel -doesnt this have to be channel 24 .They are only giving me 12 channels with the D-Channel being the 12 channel

Has the carrier told you the D channel is #12? Are the remaining channels being used for data? Are they providing the CSU/DSU? My guess is it is the 24th channel but don't take my word for it. At the very least, if you are using loop keys to initiate an outgoing call, your outgoing trunk group will need to be reprogrammed.

Yes.The carrier told me the D-channel is #12 and the remaining channel are being used for data.I am pretty sure they are proving the CSU/DSU because it's an Intergrated circuit

Does this sound right. Can I use any channel for the D-channel .I have only installed PRI's with the full 23+D
In the programming guide 0307 it tell you to enter 23 for the number of channels if your using PRI
I have another question I would like to run by you .I am pretty sure they have 2 Pri cards in the system only one is currently being used 23 channels plus the D-channel is #24 .Can I set another Pri card up with 11 cannels and the D-channel # 12 to cut down on the down time

Thanks for response

Well, why doesn't the carrier buy a clue and give you the LAST channels rather than the leading channels?

I was thinking about doing that. I just wasnt sure if I had to .I wasnt sure if the D-Channel had to be #24 .I have always set up full PRI not partial ...So in program 0307 just set it for 23B channels and then just create a trunk group with the last 11B Channels

Should work. if the channels are being used for something other than voice, the 704i will ignore it since it's not being used to dial out or receive.
