Nortel MICS installed with 12 pool lines. When receptionist answers one line and a second call comes in, her phone will not ring. (arrow flashes, but no audible ring). We have installed a second set near her that rings all 12 lines when calls come in so that she knows when another call is coming in without having to stare at her set. Any other way to solve this problem? (besides installing strobe lights)

Sounds like that phone needs to be programmed to have off-hook-ringing. I don't know if that's done from the users end or in the system programming or if it's even called that. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
But someone smarter that I am will post and be of more help. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]

each of the lines that on on her set need to be programed with her ext# as the prime set. If you go into "lines" select the line in question then "show trunk line data" next till prime set appears change the prime set to her extension. This will allow other lines to ring at her set while shes on another call.

On the norstar if you are on the line I believe the best you can do is get one courtesy ring(blast) on your off hook set, then It will only give you a steady wink showing an incoming call no matter how you set up that certain extension. I don't believe the norstar has the capabilities of constant ringing on a set that is off hook on a call. YOU NEED TO LOOK INTO THE PRIME LINE FEATURE AND OR THE APPEAR AND RING FEATURE FOR THAT SET. LOOK IN THE CONFIG OF THE SET. IF ALL ELSE FAILS READ THE INSTALL AND MAINT SECTION AGAIN.

While off hook and phone ringing, try to turn up the volume. On my CICS I can turn up or down the ringer volume while off hook.
Good luck..
