I have a site that is getting dial tone from a "CLEC" analog lines from a VINA box (channel bank)they are providing 28 to 30 volts A/C on the incoming ringing, Most of the time the system will not detect a ring. Does any one know the minimum allowable ring voltage to the norstar, its an 0x32
Thanks in advance

you sound like you should be fine. i'm trying to dig up some info as i have dealt with this before. they don't have in the manuals so don't waste your time there.

Couldn't they give you another channel bank? This is a gheapie CLEC problem, not your problem.

There are Mitel boxes, Adtran boxes, etc. If they want the monthly revenue, let them provide normal channel banks, not some off the wall brand.

The monthly revenue is worth far more than saving a few bucks and having the customer pull the circuit.

I have a used Adtran and a couple new inexpensive 24 channel banks that should arrive in a day or two.

28 to 30 volts AC is on the low side. If I remember right providers on pots lines send 90 to 110 AC.

The minimum ringing voltage is from 55-60 AC and below that you will have intermittent ringing problems. I hope that helps.

You could hold your finger on 30 volts and you want it to ring a phone?

The other possibility is that they are sending square wave (I know, it sounds like military intelligence) instead of sine wave and if the voltage is lower and it is square wave the system can just say no thanks to ringing.

The easy solution, make the CLEC give you an adequate channel bank. For all the bucks they charge and all the fancy suits the salesmen wear, it is supposed to work before they pay the bill.
