A new challenge, I have here to learn this phone system inside out and backwards.

Question 1: How do I reprogram a speed dial button on the M5208.

Question 2: How do I enter setup / programmers interface from the M5316 (or can i?)!

You can't change much on Centrex phones. To program an autodial button I beleive you just push it with the handset on hook and enter the #.

Hi bug,
With that model number I think you have Centrex phones. If I'm not mistaken this means Central office exchange which means your C.O. is responsible for the programming since the switch is in their facility. That being said, I beleive all you have to do to program the buttons is press the button you want to program, dial the number you want and then press the button again.
Hope that helps and good luck.
John

Beer, sure I'll try one

To find out that number, why don't you just call any other phone with caller identification? You could call a friend, your cellphone, etc...

Those buttons are programmed by Telus - you can't change them on site.

ANI = Automatic Number Identification

Had another question related to this so I'm going to use the same topic.

Is there a way on the Centrex to tell who is using the overhead PA system without having to go check every phone in the building? and if not any special disconnection code?

Second question is, I have an extension 3828 that when you go on the line, its direct dial out.... we need to switch this over to internal. how is this accomplished.?

I believe your service provider is responsible for all but the most basic programming.

All features you have described have to be programmed from the provider.

The answer to your first question is "No" on both counts to the best of my knowledge. Maybe you could have the telco program a timeout on the paging circuit so that it doesn't get hung for long periods of time.

Second Question: Are you sure the line in question is a Centrex line? I've never seen a Telus Centrex line that doesn't require a '9' to dial out (I have seen it on Allsteam Centrex lines though) Anyhow, it's a change that has to be made by the Telco.
