Can a MICS configured for T-1/PRI route inbound calls using CID? I have done this in the past with a CallPilot, but this client answers their phones live, so CallPilot isn't "in-the-loop".

Is there any way to route calls to certain extensions, bypassing the reception station?

Receptionist is overwhelmed, and it seems half the inbound calls are personal calls (Dr.'s wife, kids, etc.). If I could route (via CID) individual cellphone/home numbers to ring directly to a particular extension, the receptionist might finally say "yes" when I ask her out again...

Thanks in advance,

A valley girl thought this up years ago. Give them DIDs off the T-1/PRI.

They only give the DID number out to friends, lovers, wives, shrinks, etc. and put a second intercom button on the phone if they only have one now.

If too many people get the number, change the DID number.

Now get cracking and take the load off that poor receptionist before she takes a hedge trimmer to something you value.

Kidding aside... Danny, there is no provision to route the calls based on CLID. Best you can do is use DID to route to extensions or as you say CLID routing in the call pilot.

You shouldn't fool around receptionists. :nono:

Thanks. DID's are too complicated for this bunch (see my previous post re: "Client Doesn't Want to Dial 9").

Someone has to take care of all the cute receptionists!

Dialing a '9' shouldn't have anything to do with incoming DID. If you have a PRI, most likely they have a DID range. Match up the DID number to ext. and they bypass the receptionist totally. Once people start learning the DID for individuals, the receptionist's calls will go down fast. Then she won't have anything to do except sit there and look pretty.

My reference to "Dialing 9" was for another post regarding this same client (to demonstrate their ineptness). I know it has nothing to do with incoming DID's...

I can set up 1000 DID's and there's no way these people will train their spouses/kids to use 'em.

One DID to the Call Pilot. Give the number to the friends, have the Call Pilot answer and they can input the extension number.

If they won't dial 9, the families, etc. won't dial a DID, how in hell could you get them to dial a different number and then an extension. The DID is a different number and they supposedly won't dial that.

Danny, tell the receptionist to inform her boss that she wants to go on stress disability because of the nuber of phone calls coming in and the pressure from people who won't have business cards printed with a DID number.

Maybe they will see the light.

nfcphoneman has the right idea. Have a backdoor number (or numbers in a hunt) that is answered right away by the call pilot. Staff uses this to call directly in to check messages and family/friends use it. This will relieve the receptionists immensely with the call volume.
