A secondary phone ringing is no problem just be sure its not set to forward to voice mail on busy and CFNA setting is longer than the DRT delay.
DRT (Delayed Ring TRansfer) DN is an ext that rings if no one has answered a call after x number of rings (DRT timer). Every line has a setting for this. Often used as an overflow to the AA after a delay of x rings. But if no line is set to A&R on any set the DRT DN setting will come into play immediately with no delay.

I've been having an issue that might be related to this:
One of my users reported receiving tons of messages which were seemingly misdirected to his phone after hours. The messages were presumably coming from callers dialing one of two temporary 'promotion' lines being used for a sale. These two lines are set to ring&appear only on two specific phonesets. Both of these sets have CFNA & CFB set to none, DRT is set to none for these lines and CallPilot is set not to answer the two lines. I moved the two lines to a different ringing group so that VMail service wouldn't grab these calls & route them to the CallPilot after hours.
I figure there must be something obvious I'm missing - any input is appreciated.

Be sure you are looking at the correct lines. remember that lines are not numbered sequentially.
Also you are going to have to go and check it and test it yourself. "User reports" are not a reliable source of information.
