Client called today and is trying to invoke the mute function while on a handset call. When he presses the "speakerphone/mute" button, instead of muting, it activates the speakerphone.

:confused: How do you mute a handset call on the M-Series sets ? Is this a feature newer than 4.x?

Client already has a handset. Just wondering if the "mute" button functions the same as in later software versions.

Press the Hold button. Its either that or put your hand over the microphone part of the handset.

The mute button applies to the headset port only and speakerphone only.

I see, said the blind man. Is that with all Nortel or just earlier versions? According to the client, he was able to do this on his other system (MICS 7.0). (Although I am a Nortel installer, I do not use these systems on a day-to-day basis, so some of these details elude me.)

The mute function does work on handest calls with MICS v7.0 and T7316e, or at least it does at the site I am at now.

To use your MUTE button.

While on a call and want to mute:
Press Handsfree/mute button TWICE.

First push will turn on handsfree.
Second push will turn on mute.
Then hang up the handset.
When you are ready to talk again, pick up handset or push the HF/Mute button again and use the speakerphone.
