I hired a vendor to do some work at a remote location on our OPT 11 Nortel system (call Pilot) - the office made an addition and the vendor left me a voicemail stating that he punched down a phone to TN 15 4 and that I need to assign a DN to it. When I stat that port it shows UNEQ. Which if I remember right, tells me there is nothing plugged in correct? I have verified that she plugged a phone in. I'm looking at try to get his phone up and running but am stuck - any idea's or suggestions?

Thank You,

Troy

It has been SOOO long since I did Opt-11.
So don't take this as gospel.
But I don't think it would show UNEQ just because the phone is unplugged.
Did you enable the port ?
Actually - Did anyone program the port??
It almost sounds like the port was never prog.
If it has been prog, then enable the port to bring it up.
If the phone is unplugged, the port could go DISABLED when it runs its routine at midnight.
What do the other ports next to it show when you stat them?
I would say the port is not programmed is why it shows uneq.
Opt-11 experts can step in and give you better info.

thanks for the reply, I did try to enable to the port. But it wouldn't take. That is why I was thinking that the phone was not plugged in. I ran a stat on card 15 and it shows my digital port either idle or busy, except for 15 4 which shows uneq. the phone does get dial tone but is not able to make or receive calls.

Did you print out the info for that port?
Is it really programmed for that model phone?

I am wondering the same thing - I am almost thinking that the port is programmed as an analog port vs digital. Does that make sense?? I will print out the info and post it when I get a chance. THANKS!

The card in slot 15 would have to be a digital card. Then you can't program an analog on it. It just sounds like the tech connected the wires from the jack to the port, but the port was never programmed. That's why the UNEQ.
That is my guess.
Of course the print out should tell you quite a lot about the problem.

I should say "I assume that card is Digital". You didn't say which model phone you tried to use.

BUT - Just pretend that port is not programmed.
Try programming a NEW Phone for that port, use the model phone you want, then see if it shows something other than UNEQ.

UNEQUIP means that a phone is not programmed on that port. Printing a non valid unequipped TN will give the SCH0805. If you stat the card if will give the status of all ports...idle,busy,dsbl or unequip and tell whether it's a digital or analog.
