Anyone out there ever replace a memory battery in a CICS ? One of my customers lost power last weekend, The UPS the system was plugged into finally gave out. It's a long drive and a boat ride to reprogram the system. Would like to make sure the system memory is backed up so this doesn't happen again. Any info would be appreciated.

Sounds like OBX area? You lost power on reboot? What software version? Do you have a rad installed on CICS?. Nortel Remote utilities software for backup?

Removing power initializes the system. I think it's Release 4.1, no RAD, no DISA, no auto attendant. It's an older system,so I suspect the memory back-up battery is gone. It's near the OBX and the customer prefers confidentiality.

welcome I have only ever seen CICS default if it lost power during a startup. The database is held in the software flash card. There is no memory module. Bring new software card with you. Ideal time to upgrade and upsell.

If software is held in flash then someone must have been trying to do a startup before I got there. It was definitely defaulted.Reprogramming is easy enough, but the trip there uses up half a day! hopefully the new UPS will take care of the problem.
