New install - CICS 7.1 with Call Pilot 100 2.0

Set up my laptop just like I always do.
Tried to get into the CP.
Nothing - won't even ping.
Tried the telset codes - nothing.
I have 3 digit extensions. I still need to initialize CP.
Just out of curiousity I try 12xxxx instead of 102. It gives me the admin screen.
Humm - not init yet, on a 3 dig system - How can that be. And why can't I get in on my laptop?
I do a re-install. And I connect up with serial cable.
Address is: 10.1.0.1 mask is: 255.255.0.0
No wonder I can't even ping it.

So I change the IP/mask back to default with the serial cable. Then reboot.

Now I can ping the CP but still no access - 'Page not displayed'.
But I can get into the CP using telset.

On a reboot - I check and the address and mask are correct. I CAN ping it. But no access.
Any feedback??

Why is 10.1.0.1 if CP default is 192.168.110.10?
Set your browser to 192.168.110.11.

Obviously this is a used CP, if the address was not default.

You might want to do a Telnet Reinstall.

I agree, Marv, it must have been used.

What is a Telnet Reinstall?
How is that diff than a normal re-install using the 983??
And I thought the 983 re-install would put the address back to default. ???

Sorry I meant telset and re-reading your 1st post you already did that.

I've found 2.0's to be finnicky. I'm at a loss as to why the browser does not come up. Re-check your laptop config. Are connected direct (crossover cable) or through a router? Try rebooting your laptop with it connected to the CP.

Where that 10.1.0.1 came from? Connect your computer with serial cable to RS-232 and set it up as VT-100, 9600, no parity, 1 stop bit. Power up a CP and watch screen for IP address to modify. Press
"Enter" within 5 sec. You are going to see an existing IP and be able to modify.
