Hi PPL,

Working on a bcm with a third party voicemail system. standard old pc type. The issue is, the vm is not seeing the calling party disconnect when a caller hangs while still in the que. VM port just sits there held. When monitoring it with the buttset and looking at it with a meter, I see no current change or signaling of any type.
One more thing. the pbx is located in one bldg and the vm in another via UG with those isolation blocks. Anyone ever have dissconnect problems in the enviorment i've described? unusual i know.

thanks, Dave.

The BIG question: Why aren't you using the BCM Voice Mail. It is there to be used. It is built into the BCM. It works.

To try to answer your question, how is it interfaced to the 3rd party VM ?
Are you using non-disconnectability units called ATA's??
You should be using the VMI (Voice Mail Interface) Units.

Give more info.

Humm - next question is: Anyone know if the VMI is compatible to the BCM??

the system is in use by several taxi companies.. the IVR que system is used by just one of those companies.the bcm system is fine and is in use by the two companies. There are no ATA's in the mix. VM is running on 4 analog ports. from the bcm and again...there is prob 150-200ft between the two.

There is no VM integration can be done on Analog ports of BCM and they don't provide disconnect signal of any kind. You can't make a third party VM work with BCM unless its designed specifically for it.

Better note to self: NEVER trust what a customer says. ALWAYS verify yourself.

I've seen third party IVR work on digital ports on Norstar products; never met the same set up on a BCM.

For Quebec people, it's Jean Coutu drugstores using external IVR servers on CICS.

Those pharmacy IVRs are in front of the the telephone system. They will work with any system.
