This is the same customer as my post about the ACD data flow issue.

CP 150 31.10.23.22
MICS 7.0 FC

They have a "professionally" recorded message in Cantonese that they wanted to upload into a CCR menu path. Using the Call Pilot player 2.01, I sucessfully converted the wav file to a .vbk.

Using the Call Pilot Manager (browser interface) when I try to upload the .vbk in to the CCR tree I get "invalid voice file format".

I was told that the Cp Player hadt to be 2.5. So I install that and got the same thing. I ended up resorting to playing a cd of the recording and holding the handset up to the speaker. Very crappy indeed.

Any ideas on this one???

Use the file converter that came with this CP. It's on the CD.

Jack - I had the same problem and used a certain CP player version (and for the life of me I can't remember it) to get it to work. I found the answer searching here.

Edited to remove link.

Marv - I did. It's 2.01 and it didn't work. Then I tried 2.5 and it didn't work either.

PTS - I will dig deeper here on the forum...thanks

Not exactly related with this topic, but what is your experience with the CP Player as a recorder. In my experience, recording through the set results in overall better sound quality.
Seen this with well-equipped computers that did nothing else at the time but the recordings. When tranferred to CP the quality was worse vs the recording done through the set.

When recording make sure:
Bit Rate 8 Khz/ Audio Sample 16 Bit/ Channels 1/ Audio Format

If still does not work try another program, I found Roxio Player works for me.

Everything is done according to Nortel spec.
CP Player plays back the recording at proper quality.
After uploading to CP, recording is downgraded.
When using any set, the quality is superior. Probably because the recording happens at the CP itself, with no conversions.
CP system is 3.1 (don't remember the exact revision). Several different sets and computers have been used. I don't have our internal log with all our troubleshooting on the issue available right now as I'm in the field.
I'm not even sure it's a decoding problem since there is hiss and other analog effects rather than digital effects such as loss of resolution.
Also, there's ample network bandwidth, no power problems and no other audio problems of any kind both in the voice and the data network.

I'm not familiar with Roxio Player. Can it encode VBK files?

Sph:
The issue I'm having is with a "professionally recorded" voice over in Cantonese that is the correct bit and sample rate, etc. It is a wav file. When I play it through the Cp player it plays ok. When I save as a .vbk, it seems to save ok. But when I try to upload via the CP manager, I get "invalid voice file format". I had to resort to playing it on a boom box and holding the handset up to the speaker. When I did this, I was recording directly to the CCR path, not to the CP player.

Yes thats why I stated to try other players, some players just cant do the job properly.
I found Roxio out of 3 players i had was the only one that worked.
Just a thought, maybe visit some audio forums and aks if anyone can convert them for you.
