I'm looking for a DOC to use with a maglock and an MICS, but found two numbers in my search: NT8B79FE & NT8B79FB. "E" Model looks a little dated (the units I remember installing previously) and is about $30 less. "B" model appears a little more "modernized". Same guts/function?

The second pic is of an AT&T door phone controller used with Merlin systems. I'm sure your part numbers are right, but the bottom pic if definitely not corresponding to any of those p/n's

Hmm...that pic shows up in Google and on several websites when searching the part #. :confused: Can't find mention of the "B" model anywhere on the Nortel site.

I don't think so, but I suppose it is possible........just not probable. (PS - The top model is actually the "B" unit and the bottom model is actually the "E" unit.

OK, so...bottom line...they're both the same. One is a newer production #?

Danny, I don't think so. Nortel is not modifying any existing hardware now. The last think they did on Norstar is Rel. 7.1 Software to accommodate new time change. I think that AT&T Door controller came by mistake on that side because the old AT&T part number almost the same as new Norstar number for Door controller.

FA = Norstar only
FB & FE for both Norstar & BST systems
I have to assume FE is new model of FB and probably looks the same as FB.
I could be wrong, though.

I tend to agree.
But I think that picture of the FB looks wrong, also I think it looks older not newer.
If I recall the older ones before BCM were close to that picture but narrower in width and more slanted in the front? been 12 years at least since I installed one.
