HI! I have older Cics system Inherited Customer , Not sure what version software but it is old , I was adding M7324 sets ref. Thats what they want. The reception already had a M7324 and a Dss module , i added 7 M7234 telephones so with the reception that is 8 M7324's and a dss module , no voicemail, 8 co trunks . When i go to add the 9th m7324 it boots up display works intercom and no other buttons work , this a existing working digital port which had a m7208 working on it , i tried a another M7324 just in case i had a bad set, did the same ,, so my question is there a limit of M7324 sets allowed on cics , because of extra power from too many M7324,s or is it a software issue or ???? Any help. Thanks again

No limit, not a software issue. It's a programming issue. IOW, program it.

If there was a M7208 set on that port before, whatever programming it had will transfer to the M7324.
If, for example you had no lines on the M7208, there will be no lines on whatever set you put in its place.
If the "Feature" button doesn't work on the M7324, the phone is defective.
The T7316 works fine....as in what way?

The lines would be by default the top left 6 buttons.
Did you at least do a button inquiry to see what was on the phone?

That was my 1st thought, Marv, but OP stated that he originally had a M7208 on that port. Also stated a total of 8 phones w/o VM. Also a T7316 works fine.

Nope, notta. M7324's are compatible with DR1 on a CICS as you already know. The sets had to be bad.

DR1 is not compatible with M7324 It excepts T7316 because it emulates an M7310

According to my charts, they will work on a DR1. We're talking a CICS here Curly, not an older system.

oops!
The only thing I can think of is the sets are an old release.
I recall a certain rls did not play well with the newer software at that time and was not documented by Nortel. I am thinking Rls 12 and below but cant remember.

You have 8 working. Take the one that is not working and replace the working one. Does it work there?
If yes, put the working one in the non working jack.
Also, as curly mentioned, check the release level of all phones. Don't know if that is really an issue though.

When you say DR1 my mind goes to, for example, the 824.

When CICS and MICS came out we called it 1.0
In other words: MICS and CICS it's DR X.X (i.e DR 1.0) 3X8 , 6X16, 8X24 it's DRX (i.e DR1)
Only exception is 3X8 and the 8X24 had DR5.1 Why they didn't call it DR6 is beyond me.
History in order of release: DR1 - 3X8/6X16/8X24 DR2 - 3X8/6X16/8X24 DR3 - 3X8/6X16/8X24 DR4 - 3X8/6X16/8X24 DR5 - 3X8/6X16/8X24 DR5.1 - 3X8/8X24 T1R1 - 0X32 DR 1.0 - CICS/MICS DR 1.1 - MICS DR 2.0 - CICS/MICS DR 3.0 - MICS DR 4.0 - CICS/MICS DR 4.1 - CICS/MICS DR 4.2 - CICS DR 5.0 - MICS DR 6.0 - CICS/MICS DR 6.1 - CICS/MICS DR 6.1MR - MICS DR 7.0 - CICS/MICS DR 7.1 - CICS/MICS R.I.P.
I hope I did that correctly.

Never heard of a DR3 or 4 for 3x8 or 6x16 Originally posted by Curlycord: ...Only exception is 3X8 and the 8X24 had DR5.1 Why they didn't call it DR6 is beyond me. Maybe 5.1 was considered a "Maintenance" release...

Me neither! I was hoping for some feed back on this. I wonder about DR1 and 2 for 3X8 as well.

As far as I know, it went straight from DR1 to DR5, then DR5-DS, then Dr5.1.
However they may have existed very briefly. I do remember the software changing very quickly when I was still at Bell, but can't remember if it was just the 3x8 & 6x16 or whether it was with the Modular, CICS & MICS.

I believe it went this way:
3x8......DR1....DR5.1 6x16.....DR1....DR2....DR5.1.....DR5.1-DS 8x24.....DR1....DR2....DR3...DR3-CTX.....DR4...DR5....DR5.1.....DR5.1-CTX

Jim, I was talking the 3x8 system.
You're right about the 6x16, except there were DR5 & DR5-DS versions before the DR5.1. As far as I know there never was a DR5.1-DS for the 3x8 or 6x16 as with the 5.1 version, it included Disconnect Supervision already.
Your 8x24 list right, though.
