I have had a KXTA 624 system for quite some time in my home. I also have the TVS50 voice processing as well. My problem is that I have added a simple fax machine (answers on one ring), but cannot seem to get it to work. I am hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction so that when a phone call comes in, it will ring the majority of extensions and if not answered will go to voicemail. If a fax call comes in, it should either not ring, or ring one time and then go to the fax estension (05). What I have done so far is remove ringing from that extension (408-410) and set the CO1 line jack 05 for DIL1. When a call comes in, it is picked up after one ring by the fax machine. If I unplug the fax extension, the call rings and rings and the voice processor does not pick up. Thanks for any help Brian Jacobsen [email protected]

There is no way for the phone system to recognize that a fax is coming in, unless the Vmail answers the call then transfers the fax to the fax jack. which works great i have that setup here. to setup the voicemail to answer after so many rings you need to setup 411-413. you would also need to setup the fax ext. in the voicemail so it knows where to send that call to.

You can also have the fax CO line dil 1-1 to the pilot port of the TVS and set up auto fax recognition to transfer fax calls to the fax ext. You should also disable ringing on all lines for the fax extension. Gem

The best avenue is to purchase an inexpensive Fax Splitter for Radio Shack. This unit will go between your CO lines and the KXT system. They usually have three RJ11 ports on them Line (connect CO Trunk), Fax (connect fax machine port), and extension (connect to a CO port on your KXT). If a fax tone is detected, the fax splitter will route the call to the fax machine. Otherwise it will route it to the KXT as a "normal" CO trunk call.

MitelMan77, your referring to a line sharring device which simply is not needed when the TVS 50 is properly set up for auto fax receive. There actually are more options in the TVS 50 if it doesn't hear the CNG tone. You can route the call to a specific phone or mailbox, go to another message or ring a group just to name a few. If it does hear the CNG tone then it can route the call directly to the fax. Also with the fax on an extension you can have it call out on more then just the one line, it doesn't matter when sending. But, thank you for your input. Gem

MrGem is so right. I will be de-installing a 15 year old Ansuzi with 4 C O s each with a fax/modem switch ahead of the KSU. It burns up a switch a year. It also has an alternative LD dialer ahead of the whole mess. I will be installing an used KXT61610 to do the same thing, removing the dialer, the switches, in otherwords cleaning up a mess that a former (no longer in business) installation company left. The fax machines will be delayed ring on the extensions other than the main machine, dedicated to it's own number and extension. Same for backup dialups for the computers. And they will be able to use cordless Slps to simplify the business. Even though it is an eight year old unit it will do everything plus more without the added failure points that now exist. Simple and clean. Run your fax through the VM and, with proper programming, it will do anything you have asked for.
Good luck.
