As expected, out IFM (laptop) hard drive is failing and needs to be replaced. We have a spare IBM hard drive we would like to use. We are trying to clone our current image onto the new drive, but the system will not come up. Is there a way this can be done or are we forced to purchase a preloaded hard drive. Just looking for the quickest way to get up and running.

Check 1CTI.com Talk to TS. They made software
and can direct you to Arabed Corp which does the hardware. Arabed can supply new HD's or you can send unit in for repair. I have the Names and numbedrs in my work computer, will get them if you want. If its under warranty they honor it.

Thanks for the response. I have heard about Arabed, but no one answers the phone or calls back.

I have also been told that arabed will need specific hard drive numbers because they they need to format the drive and "set some bits" in order for the software to work. And also some of the files from the original drive need to be copied to the new drive as well.

I am trying to clone/copy the original drive to a new drive (bit by bit) which works for WindowsNT clones, but for some reason is not working for our Linux clone.
I would expect after the clone operation that the IFM card would see the new drive as if it were the old drive.

Obviously I am still missing a step here.

Can anyone give me a brief overview of what needs to be done with a new drive before it can be installed in the IFM card?

they will send you a drive for $200.00
send it in and they repair and test for 5-600.
The drive are hard coded in some way as far as I know. it may be under warranty, give them the numbers and let them check it out.I don't know how much you pay the IT people trying this but you could spend a lot ot time and still have a half ass working voice mail. How do you know that only the hard drive is bad?? There could be other problems. I e mailed numbers to 1CTI and Arabed. Thats the quick way, send it in,
get it back, plug it into your network and reprogram.
