Hello,

I've been trying to configure our KX-TD816 to divert unanswered calls made to a hunt group to an outside line. I appear to have got quite far but have now come a little unstuck at the last hurdle, unfortunately. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Here's how I've configured the KX-TD816 so far:

1. Set up the hunt group and added the extensions to ring.
2. Configured intercept routing for the hunt group to foward all unanswered calls (after 4 rings) to a separate extension outside the hunt group.
3. Configured this extension to foward all calls to the outside line, i.e. 71069<number>#.

The problem occurs when I dial-in to the hunt group from outside, after 4 rings the intercept routed extension rings but doesn't foward the call. However, if I call the extension internally, i.e. intercom <ext>, the call is diverted to the outside line.

I was wondering if this is a limitation of hunted calls within the KX-TD816? I've also tried intercept routing to a XDP extension but to no avail.

I suppose one solution would be to set a DIL 1:1 extension to divert externally, but we really need the functionalty which the hunt group provides.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

Andrew, will you please complete your profile for us. :read: Thank you, MrG.
It is a limitation of the system. You can have the overflow for the hunt group but you can't forward the overflow ext.
There may be a work around if you have an open CO line.
Have the overflow ext. an XDP. Loop it back into an unused CO and set up that unused CO as a DIL 1-1 to an Ext. that has all calls forwarded to the outside #.
Make sure you put that unused CO in it's own trunk group with no outgoing assigned so that the normal sets can't grab it when calling out.
lso you didn't mention if you have a TVS or any kind of voicemail.

Thanks MrG, I've updated my profile.

We only have 4 CO lines into the building at the moment, so I'm not sure it would be an option for us to permanently assign one of them to do the external forwarding. Although we may be able to purchase an additional line card for the KX-TD816.

Now you mention it, we do have a KX-TPV100E sitting next to the PBX. It was recently thought to be defunct until we repaired it's hard drive.

Would it be possible to divert unanswered calls made to the hunt group to the outside line via the VPS somehow?

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Many thanks.

Thanks for the profile update Andrew.
as for the TVP100E, Maybe. The Euro units have slightly different programming and features then the
US versions.
I'm thinking it may be possible if the auto attendant answers all calls and then rings the pilot number for your hunt group, if not answered in a specified time
the A/A should pull the call back and redirect it.
I think our friend Peter Doyle could shed more light on this as he is experienced with those units. I'll PM him.

hi Gem long time no PM ha,ha

yep seen this many times i dont know about the us version but with the euro ver there is no way to forward a group to an outside line. the reason for this is as you know a group has more than 1 phone ringing even if you only have 1 phone(member) in the group all the other phones on the system are set to no-ring thus the reason you can still pick it up from else where.and the only to forward to an outside line is if it is the only phone ringing ie(an extenstion) or ( ddi)or finaly a dil 1-1.
optin 1...
the answer to the above question is dont intercept the group instead intercept the lines to a phone(slt) on permanant forward to the outside no:

option 2....voicemail (a pity not to usse it)
as you said use the voice mail on AA (custom service)
intercept all calls to voice mail have a message on the v/mail say please hold while we connect your call then set v/mail no input to go to the phone(slt) on permanant forward to the outside no:this will also work however now you have the option to also direct staff calls to other ext in the building all the staff will have to do is input an ext no: when they hear (the please hold message).

well thats my 2 cent's worth.
will talk soon GEM
peter.

Many thanks to MrG and Peter,

I shall experiment with option 1 and option 2 in our environment to see which one is the most suitable for our requirements.

Thanks again.

there is a way to do it it takes 2 dummy exts
on the system and also would most likley
need the conference chip as well
add an analog port to the hunt group and connect
it to a line port ( put this new line in its own trk grp)we will call it ext x give give it intercept routing to our other Ext Y (that has
been fowrwarded off net)WALA!!
