Just had a potential client call and tell me that the star and pound keys don't work on a newly installed TA824. I'm not aware of a program to restrict or deny these keys on this system. Anybody else had this issue?

PITS sets or SLT or non pits cordless? Never seen or heard of that problem Kev on pits sets but I have seen some cordless where you had to press those keys twice to send a tone, kind of like some butt sets. MrG

There is check for */# in trs in program 125 could stop you using the star and pound keys, I think it comes on as default
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”

the */# check is for TRS.
Is it possible he's trying to access programming from a phone? If it is, tell him he's right, it doesn't work and go on from there :-)

No, he has a phone company voicemail service. Since the system was installed he has not been able to access his messages, because the */# won't work. Some company sold him this and installed it, programmed the time and date, and left. I actually had him go into system programming to see if the */# would register and it did. I then had him press those keys while talking to me and there was no tone.

Kev, did you check 401 to make sure it is set for tone? In a pulse mode it will not send the tone without 1st pressing *# then the key you want to send. MrG

Thought of that. The system is using touch tone dialing.
