just wondering if anyone out there has run across this problem. i installed a kxta-824 w/ doorphone/door opener card (82461) and when you try to open the gate, which is a swinging type gate with a left and right side, one side will open and the other side will close. instead of opening and closing together they go in opposite directions. about every 10th time they will open and shut together. but the next try it goes back toopposite directions. i don't think the card is the problem since the gate opens and closes every time just not together. and the doorphone works just fine. i reversed the wires, and also connected to door opener 2,3,and 4 and always the same thing. any ideas what could be the problem. thanks

I can assure you it's neither the system or the card. It sounds like there may be 2 relays, 1 for each gate, maybe what I referr to as "ratchet" relays, momentary close provides double action, like a garage door, push once to open, push the same button again to close. The closer from the door card may be paralleled between these two relays but when it was tied in the gates were not in the same state. Just a thought. MrG

That sounds like it could be the case, but one thing that i failed to mention is that they have a gate opener and the gate works fine with it as well as with the key pad that they have at the gate. both of those work perfectly. it is just that when you use the phone to open it that it acts erractically. that is why i thought that it might be the card. but i will check out the relay situation. thanks

Mr G is right,it can not be the system. how have you connected the system to the gates. Most keypads have a triger inside of them to use on push to exit switch, if you can connect the system to this port then the keypad circuit will open the gate
“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”

the door unit may not close the contacts long enough for the gate relays to react properly you may be better off having the door unit activate a time delay relay that will operate the gate.
