Hi folks,
Learning more about the setup I have, and am about to setup MOH on the 824.-
Am I correct in thinking when the TVA is setup to use the TA824's MOH when a call is in a queue or held somewhere.-
How does the TVA50 handle MOH in the way of port usage? I have the vanilla 2 port (jacks 7 and 8) setup and am trying to work out if both ports get used per call (one for 'uplink' call and one for back the the TA's MOH). This is kind of heavy usage if so, I think I may need a TVA502?
Thoughts welcome, including 'You're stupid for asking this'!!!

You can set system for blind transfers. Phone system handles Forwarding to vm. Default the port handles the call, puts it on hold which is the Phone system music if you have it, then waits for an answer. At this point one of three things could happen 1- someone answers the call before the TVS no answer timer expires or the call is forwarded to the VM by the phone system (in which case it would go to another port, if it was not busy, if busy it waits for free port) or the TVA no answer expires and the TVA pulls it back and plays the appropriate greeting. Whenever a call is on hold it is by the phone system. The VM dials a code for hold transfer, if the VM hangs up the call is released to the the extension, if it dials the Hold pickup code the port gets the call back. For heavy usage Blind transfer works best with some caveats: all phones need to be forwarded to VM no answer at least.

Thanks brokeda,
I plan to use custom service auto attendant. I want the TVA50 to answer all incoming calls. I have 3 CO's (rollover set at exchange currently using external VM). Looking at page 18 of the installation manual, I am rather confused as Pana recommends I don't need an extra TVA502 card until Im up to 9-16 CO's? That can't be right?

Rob, I can see where that can be a bit confusing. That page in the manual is stating that with full auto attendant, 2 ports should handle up to 8 CO lines. I, (as most of us here) don't agree with that. My rule of thumb is, 1 auto attendant port for every 2 CO lines. Depending on your traffic, 2 ports for 3 CO lines may be sufficient. If it's in your budget it's always good to add the extra ports now and be done with it. That way if you increase your CO lines, your good to go. --------------------- MrG

Hi MrG,
That would make more sense to me, I already have ports 15 and 16 free on the 824 for this purpose. Using APT of course.
