As we all know to prevent glare, outbound calls select the last trunk first and progress backwards to the Pilot number. I'm having trouble with people *69ing to the end of the trunk group. Worse the hunt group is not circular and set to CFBusy the last trunk to their other office. Therefore if the last line is in use and someone *69's that one, it gets forwarded out.
Telepacific has no problem with CIDing the Pilot number on all trunks, but AT&T (naturally) cannot do this.
I was looking at CLIP as a possible solution. I've never used CLIP before and am not clear on how it works. My manual only talks about ISDN and that I have to have a contract with the local Telco. It also says the number has to match the one provided by them or it will be replaced.
Does the CLIP number override the CO's caller ID, or do I have to block the outbound CID from AT&T?
Will this work at all?
Thanks for any clarity you can give me.

Which Panasonic system?
Also, ask about a true 'terminal' trunk group. This has one phone number assigned to 2-1000 'terminals'. Terminals are numbered, typically 001 and up, to make troubleshooting easier. When you have a problem with the 3rd trunk in the group, the trouble would be on AAA-BBB-CCCC-terminal 003, as an example.

I'm sorry I was so focused on my problem, I forgot the critical imfomation. Rookie misteake (sic)! It is a KXTDA 50G.
Hmm... I forgot about what we used to call a "Level hunt groups" out here. Thank you I'll ask them AT&T if they have anyone there that knows about it.
Was I all wrong about how the CLIP works? It was never covered in school, and the book isn't too clear.
Thank you for your help Lightninghorse

You need Pri or in the case of the 50G, SIP trunks. That's if carrier allows this. Use it all the time. Sets send out Main number or DID of ext. Does not work on analog trunk.

Thanks.
So We'd need SIP to SEND the custom CID from us to the carrier first then. Now I have a direction to look.

Or PRI. IF the carrier allows.
