I currently have a Telrad 1000 switch with ImaGEN Voicemail. On one of the analog extensions, I receive a stutter dial tone when taking it off hook. When checking the voicemail box for a message, there are no new or old messages. Can something else in the system cause a stutter dial tone? I've deleted the voicemail box, as well as the extension (in the Telrad switch). When I re-create the extension, without Voicemail, I still receive the stutter dial tone. I've also disconnected all phones from the Telrad port. I've also reset the Telrad cards, I've moved the extension to a different port, and also rebooted the ImaGEN desktop computer.

I am not too familiar with the telrad systems.....but is this on a PRI/T-1 or POTS lines? I have seen this with a PRI before...it was weird, but it was not servicer affecting in the least.

Check to see if the local provider has also assigned and activated voicemail to this line.

Hey Steve,

We do have a PRI/T-1. This issue just came up. We've had the system, and the T-1 for about 4 years. The stutter dial tone has been on one extension for about a week know, and just today we've discovered it on another extension. This latest extension was checked last Friday for stutter dial tone, and all was normal. It started sometime this weekend. Thanks.

Try SENDING a voicemail message to the affected extensions and retrieving them normally, giving the voicemail system an opportunity to turn off the notification to that extension.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.

Is that phone setup with a preffered connection to an outside line? or do you have to dial a "9" to get outside the internal dial tone? If so, is that line on the PRI?

does the studder stop after a few seconds, or does it continue until buttons are pressed or times out?

If it stops after a few secs, then it sounds like voicemail box from your provider. if it is an intermitent issue, it might be grabbing a line that has a voicemail box assigned from your provider.

I did try to send a voicemail t the affected extensions, but still had no luck. Also, all our extensions do not have a preffered connection to an outside line. We have to dial a "9" to get outside the internal dial tone. It is a PRI/T-1. Also, the stutter does stop after a few seconds. I went through and dialed our specific code to grab each and everyone of the outside lines we have (one at a time), and none of those have the stutter dial tone. None of our lines have voicemail from the provider. Thanks.

I would still perform the following test to completely rule out any causes from the provider:

1. Place a test call from the affected analog extension, keeping that call in-progress.

2. From a separate line outside of the system or a cellphone, place a call to that extension to confirm the call is being correctly diverted to the ImaGEN voicemail system (versus a separate voicemail box at the provider).

Holy Cow guys the SLT port is forwarded. You get broken dial tone from both message waiting (from voicemail or other extension) but also if the port is forwarded.
Can I ask what software level is the system?

Ya, Sorry Me or SS were late. This is a funny post. The EXT is forwarded probably, as SSphone says. If you deleted the mailbox and cancel the message code (#63 DEFAULT) IT CAN ONLY BE FORWARED.
We need the right version to tell you the cancel code. I think this will work. #7352,
