Hi all! I just joined and am quite the newbie when it comes to Toshiba phones (but extensive experience in Nortel).

The question I have is this: How do you move an extension to a different phone on the CTX 100? I assume there is some sort of automatic station relocation feature, but I'm at a loss to find it in any of the documentation.

I'm sure the answer is simple, and I'm going to feel dumb once I know, but I suppose you have to start learning somewhere. Thanks in advance for any help!

my advice is to not use station relocation on the toshiba systems, It will mess the physical and logical port assignment. You will be better off locating the port numbers and physically moving the jumpers but thats just my 2 cents

AMEN! Listen to jayman, swap the jumpers. There is no good reason to complicate the programming, listen to jayman's advice. That is just my 2 cents worth, but he is giving you the best advice.

Score: Swap jumpers 2, muck with the programming 0.

Hmmm, I guess I have to go back to my online training. I don't remember Toshiba having any type of Station Relocation. I only know of a couple systems that do.

If you use the Change DN, then you are not realy moving the extension, just changing the extension numbers. You still have to change VM ID code. It also changes everyone else's DSS keys (If they were labled by the names, then great).

If you have to change extensions in programing, you can change the equipment numbers. That will move the extensions to a different port, but then your punch blocks are not as orderly, if they were before.

I also prefer to move jumpers. Learn how to check port number by programming from a phone, then grap your punch tool.

Or just go completely IP phones. Then move phones at will!

Jayman, that's on the DK. He has a CTX which does not have a station relocation feature. Newtecky's way is of moving equipment numbers is the easiest way of moving extensions via software.

Thanks for all the advice!! I think I'll take a two step approach. In the short term, I'm going to move the cross connects. In the more than short term, I have since done a bit of research and am getting a copy of eManager so this will not occur again. Again, thanks for all the replies!

Although my experience with the CTX series is severely limited (we're not even allowed to have the WinAdmin software), we just physically relocate the extensions. It is much quicker and more "reliable" than using software method.

My last customer who had a fully expanded DK280 did a lot with station relocation, which caused us a lot of headaches.

Unlike other techs, I started on the CTX, so I'm slowly learning enough DK to get by on service calls. I didn't know that the DK had that feature. I was prettty confident that the CTX did not.

We have a pretty smart DK tech at my company, that I call upon, and he says to stay away from the station relocation feature. Probably why they never told me about it. I have seen it work on Nortel systems.
