[ Sorry if this is in the wrong forum and should be in the buy/sell. ]

Hello,

I have a Stratagy 6 Lite voicemail system. 4 port I believe. In use since mid 1997. Anyway today the harddrive crashed (just clicks) so eventhough I have floppy backups of the data, the drive is toast. All other hardware seems to be fine.

Can I just find a replacement hard drive? I think there is also a key/dongle that gets assocaited with the system but unsure.

Any help that can be provided is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Glenn

You can replace the hard drive provided it is compatible with the computer. The key/dongle must be on for software/voicemail to work.

You'll need the Stratagy install disks too.

It is time for that to go away, you can get new flash units so cheap it makes no sense to fix something that old.

Slide in a new card and be happy, do what we do and put in an inexpensive Amanda, similar programming and you can do everything by calling into it.

Stratagy Lite = bury it.

Hi, Could you please give me more info on this "Amanda"? What specific product is it? approx how much does it costs to buy/install/configure? I'm located in Pittsburgh, PA and interested in this.

THANKS,
Glenn

Like Breed said, as long as you have the install disks and get a new drive that works in the computer, it should be easy to fix. No sense buying a new VM if you have an old drive laying around. If I remember, those systems couldn't handle more than a 2 gig drive anyway.

If you are going to replace why not put in a Toshiba voice mail, the IVP8's aren't much difference in cost if any and your users won't have to learn a different system. My opinion put then I'm a lot one sided toward the Toshiba product.

Can I ask what system the 6 lite was installed on? You may have some issues with a new IVP8 but a good used Flash would fit the bill. As far a finding a good HD that is small enough and has 6.22 dos could be a problem.

I've got a few good drives collecting dust if he can't find one locally.

Hi and thanks for the responses.

Here is some info:
1) The phone system that the (now defunct) voicemail system was tied to is a Toshiba DK96. I have ~19 electronic phones (not digital)

2) I was under the impression that the IVP8 was not compatible with this legacy product, but I could be wrong.

3) I went to the https://www.theamandacompany.com as per "Bunnies" suggestion above, but looking at the site and speaking to the rep they said their smallest/lowest cost system is the SOHO Flash, but is a seperate box (like the Statagy 6) that sits next to the phone system- NOT an add-in card.

4) Procuring a small size hard drive w/DOS 6.22 probably wouldn't be difficult. However I don't have the software that for the Voice processing system. Additionally I though that the software has a key which tied to a hardware dongle.

5) We need voicemail from the perspective getting a call after hours, or someone is away, blah blah. However we don't rely on voicemail- we answer *every* call. We barely put a dent, as in less than a couple of per cent in the storage of our old system.

6) All that being said, I was hoping for some low cost alternative/replacement. Something on the order of <$1500 for hardware and whatever programming is necessary. Perhaps that is unrealistic, but given that the current hardware, with the exception of the harddrive seems to be fine I was hoping it would be viable.

Thanks again!
Glenn
