I just finished setting up a Stratagy VM on a DK424 system.
Everything is working function wise, but I have a couple questions.
1. If one of our employees is on their phone, and a caller transfers to that ext, they do not get a busy signal, but rather the phone keeps beeping at that persons extension to let them know they have another call. Is there anyway to transfer directly into that persons vm if they're on the line?
2. WHen someone transfers to a ext from the Stratagy, all they hear is dead silence until the Employee picks up. Can I put hold music or a prompt that comes up every so often, so that person will know that the system is still trying?
Thanks

Question One only requires that you change the forwarding of the telephone set from ring no answer to Ring No Answer/Busy if your using call forwarding with Blind transfers from the Stratagy.
Question Two is MOH or Music on Hold would be the best thing to do for your callers, you also can have the callers hear ringing as well if you would prefer.

Here's some dumb questions
but
1. How would I have ringing?
2. Also if I put MOH on, will it automatcally play when the stratagy is doing a asupervised transfer awaiting someone to pickup the ext?
again I apologize for my lack of knowledge on this, but if you could please explain ths to a non-tech guy I'd appriciate it.
Thanks!

For blind transfer, put an H behind all extension numbers in the extension field... example: 200H This way, any transferred calls from VM will be released to the system and follow the call-forwarding scheme appropriately. You also need to set #604 call forwarding on any voicemail-enabled phone.
Supervised transfer requires a little bit more configuring and is dependent on how you programmed the system.

If you connect a music source to the DK 424 itself, then callers will hear it when they are put on hold, when when the voicemail is doing a supervised transfer (No "H" in the extension field) because the caller is put on hold while the voicemail calls the extension.
All tho it was mentioned, if you have a supervised transfer, the voicemail will record a message if the ext does not answer even if call foward is not set.
If you change the ext to a blind transefer (Add the H), then if the phone is not set to call foward-Busy/No answer, the phone will not go to voicemail. You would need to use the #604 code as mentioned.
Another seldom used option is the "U" in the extension. It is basically partially supervised. The voicemail will detect if the extension is busy and give the caller an option to hold or leave a message. If it is not busy, then a blind transfer is used.

Prorg 10-2 LED5 sets ringback to be MOH instead of RBT tone(r3.2 and higher) Just food for thought.

I havn't tested with a audio source hooked up, but regardless of what 10-2 LED5 is set to, when the stratagy vm is transfering all the user hears is silence. Shouldn't they hear the ringback if I set it to ringback?

I believe that the silence that your hearing is due to NO audio source and that you are indeed doing a supervised transfer. Because your doing a supervised transfer the call is actually on hold waiting for the called party to answer the phone, and if a audio source was connected and playing you would be hearing it instead of the silence.
If you want to hear ring back/ringing then change the way the voice mail transfers the call, make it blind(H).
