Having successfully completed my first CIX install I have a couple things that I couldn't figure out and could use a point in the right direction...
1. I have a 'general message' mailbox as an option on the auto-attendant menu. Need to add a button on the receptionist's phone to represent that mailbox, preferably with LED indication of new messages. How?
2. One user has a Plantronics CS50 headset. I plugged the headset base unit into the headset jack on the bottom of the phone (5000 series), but can't figure out how to make it work. It will work using the handset jack, but need a 'headset' button on the phone to disable the speakerphone, but couldn't find the feature...
Thanks!

What kind of voicemail is it?
Simplest way to have it notify the receptionist is to have the general mailbox copy the messages to his/her box.
As far as the CS50, I've always had good luck with them and they work right out of the box. Wire from the back of the headset base goes into the headset port and bam-o. The push button on the headset itself should pick up as soon as you push it to either intercom or a line depending on your programing.
You shouldnt have to go through the handset port with that headset model.

Its a GVPH
The customer wants the message to remain in the original mailbox, just need an button for this mailbox on her phone.
The CS50 was working on their old system, an Intertel Encore CX, connected the same way into the phone's headset jack. I'll check the Plantronics docs, maybe need to do something to make it work with Toshiba?

The new dkt phones have a headset jack on them. Plug the headset into that. You will need to put a PhDN and PhDN/MW on the phone and match the PhDN ext. to the mailbox number. Make the general mailbox 550 and then the PhDN ext. would also be 550.

I am pretty sure the phone has to be the owner of the phantom DN also.
I dislike using 2 buttons per VM. I usually just do as drhoser said and copt messages to the receptionsist phone (make sure Store messages is set to no).
But sometimes the customer wants a light for a separate box. You can save 1 button by putting the phantom DN on a key that doesn't exist, IE on the 11th button of a 10 button phone, or on an add-on module thats doesn't exist.

On the CS70 headset I've got - I had to adjust the settings on the base unit. The dial on the left side is at 1, the rear switch is on 4, and the bottom mic switch is on D; although think the last two are volumes.

One is the headset volume and the other is the mic. The switch on the side will make the headset automatically go offhook when you take the headset off the charger.
