I installed a CIX670 on a PRI. The caller ID will only display the number. My tech has talked to the provider, and per Toshiba tech support, requested that the name information be sent in the "facilities" section of the call info and not the "call setup" section. The provider doesn't know what that means. Does anyone know if this is accurate, or what configuration the CIX requires in order to display name caller ID? The provider naturally claims that it is not their problem. Caller ID is usually so simple, but this provider has been very difficult to work with. Getting the PRI to work was a nightmare, and the caller ID still only displays the number.

Does the provider have the PRI set as NI2?
You may need to set up a vendor meet and have them prove to you they are showing the caller ID name. I believe that a t-berd would show that.

ON the toshiba, system data, make sure Caller ID is ON and in the COS make sure DNIS name is OFF.

For starters, I'd hook up a laptop/hyperterminal to the serial port on the BPTU/RPTU and look for CID name. You'll get a lot of data from each test call, but look to the far right for CID name and number.

We actually did look at the call data on Hyperterminal, and the name did appear, but it was apparantly in the wrong section. I am not sure what the right section is. We did spec NI2. We have a vendor meet set for tomorrow. I will check the system settings for caller ID and DNIS COS. Does anyone know about incoming call info on hyperterminal referring to "call settings"section or "facilities" section and which section the caller ID name should be sent in? Thanks.

Today I got Toshiba tech support on the line with the provider. Toshiba said you have to send the phone number and name in different elements, whereas the provider was sending them together. Unfortunatly, the provider was clueless about how to do it, and Toshiba was getting impatient because he didn't know basic PRI information. Naturally, they both claimed that their method was "standard " and neither had had any trouble with it before. A classic p***ing match. And I'm stuck in the middle. The fun continues on Monday.

The provider finally got the facilities messages in the correct order and the caller ID is working. They acted as if Toshiba was an alien brand that required a lot of special tweaking, when in fact the Cisco router website had clear instructions on how to set it up. Happy ending on this one, thanks for the suggestions.
