I have an old Strata DK16. All of a sudden I am getting no power. Both green leds are off. I know the outlet works. Any ideas?

There was a thermistor modification for the DK16 power supply. The symptom was as you describe and if you unplugged the AC cord from the wall for 5-10 minutes and then plugged back in and it worked, then you would do the modification. If it doesn't come back to life, then replace the power supply as Steve Mull said.

I am a little confused. Are you saying that either way I should do this modification? What does this modification do? Does turning off the switch for 5-10 minutes do the same thing as unplugging?

My power supply still does not work. Does anyone know what component goes in the DK16 power supply? I see a large 1000uf/200volt capacitor. Could that be the cause?

Probably not. That is the main filter cap. Most likely it is one of the smaller caps. Look for white corrosion an the base of all of the caps. Since they are electrolytic caps, they either leak on to the board or dry up. You can test every cap or replace them all. I think they are switching power supplies therefore the tolerances of the caps is critical.

I know you do not think that cap likely to be the problem. There is something that looks like glue holding down the 1000uf capacitor. On second look it might not be glue. It could be that the cap melted. Could this cap cause a dead power supply?

Almost anything in a P/S can be the problem. The 'glue' appearing substance may be exactly that. But, if like me, you have more time than money, go ahead and change it. I assume you've checked for fuses, both in holders and soldered in circuit?
