I am an Avaya/NEC phone guy and have a user with a Toshiba Stratus DK424 that wants two extensions to ring whenever he calls the one. They have two phones in a lab area and the person they need is always near the other phone when they call.

I have read the manual and thought I could do this by programming one extension with an SDN feature. Under program 39 I have attempted to assign a button as an SDN to no avail (It appears). It may be that I just don't understand the Toshiba programming.

Can this be done with the DK424?

Thanks,
Glenn

when programming the SDN you have to use ##XXX and then in program *71 tell that DN to ring on the second set. this is kind of confusing...
go to the primary set and plug in a display phone. dial intercom #402. this tells you the port number. that is what XXX above refers to.

then in program *71 put in the port number for the other phone and count the buttons on the right starting with zero. key 20 = port 019. if the one you need is out of that range, press scroll on the display and now you are looking at ports 020-039. light the appropriate key that corresponds with the other extensions "port number"

Thanks for the assistance guys! I have the ports ID'ed and have entered the programming for 39 to assign a button on the other phone as the ##xxx port for the one I want to mirror. I have attempted to program *71 to make the line ring in both locations as well.

It isn't working! shocked (

Should the SDN button light when the PDN is off hook? I went back and checked those buttons and they show as ##022 and ##066 respectfully. I also went to *71 and entered port 053 hit scroll once and lit up the third button up on the right row of buttons (for 022). When I intercom to 222 (port 022)extension 257 (which is assigned to port 053) does nothing.

More help Please!!! help

In *71 when you lit up LED 22, it's the SECOND button from the bottom on the LEFT column of buttons. You also need to make sure that you have the same number of SDN buttons programmed on ext.257 as you have PDN buttons on ext.222.

Thanks Meister!

I moved the button to the second button from the bottom on the left, and got nothing. frown

I also checked to ensure I have only the one button assigned as port 222 on the phone. Then I moved the button on port 053 to the first button location that was ##053. And got nothing.

I must be either missing something in the programming matrix or I just don't get this. Any additional ideas are welcome. shocked )

After pressing the scroll button, lite up the third button from the bottom on the left for port 022 in prog *71.
Another option would be a directed call pick up. If you can hear another phone ringing and want to answer it, dial #5XXX (XXX = ringing extension number). You could also put them in a pickup group and program a pickup group button on the phone.

Thanks Bob. I made the change to no avail. frown

I had considered the pick up group, but since you can't hear the phones ring between labs it will not work.

Does the model phone matter for this feature to work? I'm groping at straws here.

The model phone does not matter unless you are trying to program from a 10 button set.
If I understand correctly, port 022 is extension 222. What port is X-257 - is it port 053 or 066?
Your second post is a little confusing, what two extensions and what are their associated ports you trying to set up for SDN's?
Another thing to keep in mind, as phonemeister previously stated, is if you have two or more appearances of a PDN, you must have the same quantity of SDN's.
