We have a Toshiba Strata phone system and DKT2010-SD phones with 18 extensions. All 5 incoming phone lines ring at the receptionist phone first. The incoming call displays a fast blinking green light on the appropriate line. The call will ring a few times only on her phone. But, all phones will show the slow flashing red light on that line. If she doesn't answer, then all phones will ring and have the fast flashing green light on the appropriate incoming call. I'm just a nurse that would love to be a geek instead, so,
1) We want to change it so the incoming calls ring at all phones from the moment they arrive at the building. How do I do that?
2) When our administrator grows tired of hearing all the calls, will I be able to have a particular extension only hearing calls that have not been answered after a set amount of time?

Well I would just start by saying that you have mentioned the model number of the phone, but it doesn't exactly narrow down the type of phone system you have. If I were to guess, I would say that it is a Strata DK PBX, which is the older PBX, but those phones could be used on the newer phone system called the Strata CIX or CTX.
One way to see if it is a DK or a CIX line, is to start dialing a number without pressing a button or picking up the handset. If the phone just beep and doesn't let you dial, it is very likely the older DK system. If it goes to speaker, then it is a CTX/CIX system.
After all that work to see what kind of system you have, I am not sure anyone can easily give you the answers you seek. Both systems are fairly complex and requires some programing. The CIX is usually programmed using special software. The DK is progaramed on a phone at a specific phone port.
This is fairly easy for most technicians to do, basically changing the ringing for the phones and possibly setting up a night key to change how the system rings. For someone that has never programmed a Toshiba it can be very challenging.

I looked at the system itself and it is a Stratagy DK (Model CHSUB672A). I have downloaded the manuals for the phone and for the system. Can you tell me what I should search for so I can decide whether I should try to do this? If it looks like I may cause more problems, I'll just tell my boss we need to call someone to come in or just put up with how it is right now. I'm proud, but not so prideful that I'll risk messing up the whole system:-) Thank you for your time and thoughts.

I asked him to send me some close up digital pix so I can see what he actually has.
Ringing isn't that hard.

True, I think with some good guidance and instructions it is something that can be accomplished.
I know the cabinet is usually associated with a CTX, but I have seen them with a DK 424. I was told that these cabinets came out shortly before Toshiba introduced the CIX PBX line. I can't say that I remember, because I wasn't doing Toshiba back then.

I have emailed a couple of images to old blond bunny, although I don't think they are what she wanted. I'm a bit concerned about opening up the box even just to take pics, but I did send a pic of the tag with model/serial number etc. This has turned out to be a bit more complicated than I thought. I was really hoping that someone would just say 'it's called ____________. Look in your manual and find it!' Of course, as a nurse, I wouldn't want someone to merely read through a book and think they could do surgery! The talents of your industry are notable. :thumb:

I would have a Toshiba tech come in and do the programming first. They can show you around the system, how to get into programming mode and how to do small programming changes yourself. The Toshiba is not something you want to tackle yourself if you have never done it before.
You are talking about delay ringing, and he can show you how to change it.
