Has anyone attempted to use a 3rd party sip phone for the Xcelerator IP system? I have a Cisco WIP310 but cannot get it to register. I am using WPA2-PSK wireless security. If anyone has any insight, please feel free. I tried contacting tech support, but of course they won't support 3rd party applications.

Thanks.

Have you tried it just plugged into the Xcelerator?

Well, I'm not an Xcelerator Tech, but I'll try to help.

How far are you gettting? Is the WIP connecting to the wireless of the X-IP, a third-party WAP, or are you trying to use it at a another location via the WAN? Is the WIP getting an IP address?

Thanks for the response.

The phone will not connect to the Xcelerator via a wireless connection to the base unit.

There will be WAP's throughout the facility where this will be installed, but for now, I can not get the unit to sync to the Xcelerator. The phone will not simply register.

I created an extension in the system, gave it a SIP password, as told by tech support. I couldnt locate on the WIP310 as to where to input this "password".

Thanks.

So, does the WIP get an IP address?

I'm not familiar with the WIP310, but most of the Linksys/Sipura products are very similar, so I'll try to help, but please be patient.

Personally, I like to use the web browser to configure these products. Make sure the WIP has the web-browser enabled, get the IP address of the phone and input it into a browser on your PC.

You'll need to click the Admin login. In one of the tabs (User/Phone...) there will be a place to enter your User ID, (which is your extension number) and your password. You'll also have to set the IP address of the X-IP.

When I'm trying to connect something new to a SIP device/service, I like to start by making it work with X-Lite, which is a simple softphone. It seems to work with most everything, and will help you determine where your problems may be.
