STS keeps shutting down during the day. I pulled out the cards, VM, Trunk, Trunk, expansion cabinet, one at a time, and then left the site for hours at a time. system kept shutting down. I replaced the KSU. System shut down again within 24 hours. System always comes back up within minutes. All programming is retained. So to be clear, I would pull one card and leave the site. Customer would say system went down. I would return, replace the pulled card. Pull a different card, leave the site. System would go down. I then returned after KSU replacement and took power supply out of UPS and put it in a Name brand surge protector/ UPS, but only in the surge side.

I had one doing the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I did the same thing with pulling cards, but it didn't make any difference. The KSU ended up needing to be replaced.

I had another one that did fine after I defaulted it and reprogrammed from scratch.

I would pull the UPS power cord from the wall and see if the switch to battery power is seamless or whether there is a slight delay causing the system to reset

Skip read the above carefully. I am not utilizing the battery backup now, just the surge protection.

why would you do that ?

I would use the battery side of the UPS being sure it provided continuous power or nothing at all particularly for troubleshooting a issue like this

I changed power from one UPS that the site had, and plugged into another UPS the site had right next to the other one ( in the congested server room)
There was no backup outlet available due to a power brick plugged in to one outlet. Any how, ever since the change system has stayed up. It has been 4 working days.

Great! Now that you have no more outages, it suggests that you are having brief power outages. This is what Skip's ideas addressed.
