I've installed a VMS 2 port in an IPK and all of the new mailboxes are asking for a password when I try to log in for the first time. I've tried all of the obvious defaults, nothing works. When I call voice mail and log in to sandy s, and check the mailboxes, it says there are no passwords set up. I cant find any way to set a password in Cosession. Any ideas???

With the latest release of NEC voice mail new mailboxes are password protected. I was just told of it last week & forget the new password steps. So you are not going crazy.

Thanks for the info. If you happen to remember the steps, would you post them?

I found it. Thanks for the help, let me know if you need it.

PS- the new VMS (U40) comes with a built in modem! No extra equipment needed, just dial in to the voicemail and use the modem extension!

and you can change the default password. must be connected locally. drop to dos prompt and change a setting in a certain .ini file i think

Let me start out by stating the following:

All SD Memory Cards shipped by NEC utilize the "VMP" software which is software v6.70 or higher (Depending on Q release).

NEC is no longer producing new boards with the VMS software. The two production unit boards are U30 and U40 now. (VMP U40 must purchase DSP-U30 to achieve 8 ports)

The U30 board is designed to accept the new SD Memory Disk format, and is backwards compatible with VMS/FMS/CMS software.

The U40 board is designed to accept the new SD Memory Disk format, and is NOT backwards compatibile with FMS/CMS, but IS compatible with VMP. VMP is the replacement for VMS.

The boards naming convention is as such:

FM64(2) - 64m, 2 ports, ~4 hours of storage
FM64(4) - 64m, 4 ports, ~4 hours of storage
FM128(2) - 128m, 2 ports, ~10 hours of storage
FM128(4) - 128m, 4 ports, ~10 hours of storage
FM128(8) - 128m, 8 ports, ~10 hours of storage
FM256(2) - 256m, 2 ports, ~25 hours of storage
FM256(4) - 256m, 4 ports, ~25 hours of storage
FM256(8) - 256m, 8 ports, ~25 hours of storage

And to throw a kink in everyone's plans ...

NEC is also producing the U40 board with a HDD now:

HD(4) - HDD, 4 ports, ~180 hours of storage, // 300 mailboxes //
HD(8) - HDD, 8 ports, ~180 hours of storage, // 300 mailboxes //, DSP-U30 Unit must be purchased separately and installed to gain the additional 4 ports!!!
