I won't lie, I only have limited experiance in the NEC line. Not all that popular around here. So can't really comment on it. Avaya Partner may be a good system but has had plenty of problems, the swivel display breaking, heat issues (people now claim that is fixed but it will nedd to prove itself to me first, and they tend to be behind the times in flexablily. I've worked with the Panasonic KX-TA624 &1232 (both being discontinued) and have only had 1 out of box defective phone. I've worked with Panasonics for over 20 years and my only complaint has been the VA series. For some reason they love to disconntinue them and did not try to make them backwards/forwards compable. The KXT series has proven to be a work horse for me. Very few failures (I have a backup 616 with the old 61620 phones all about 15 years old that still works strong and the phones will even work on the newer systems). They have their weak spots (all systems do, IMHO) but other then tech support being slow to pick up I can't complain. Again, I am not up on the newer NEC's so I will not comment on them.
Hope this helps.
Steph

I just wanted to jump in and offer one more...

I use to install the Panasonic 624's and tried the NEC 1000.

Since our first install of the 1000, we have installed at least 4 other 1000's and a DS2000.

Overall they just seem simplier to install. I like the idea of not having to add a bunch of cards for services, such as caller-id.
