Anyone know if there is a work around to installing CoSessions on XP?

I have been trying to, but it keeps crashing before it completes.

Try and ONLY install the modem/serial one. Do NOT install any of the networking items or it will not install.

I did that and I was able to complete the intall, but Remote Viewer crashes when I try to connect. I try to select "Call" or setup a quick connect it crashes.

I am having the same problem. I came across some literature that said my OS would crash if I installed cosessions on XP Pro. If there is a new release or a patch could some one please let me know.
Thank You

just checked nec's web site. per Solution IDx: S7LVM4M
Article Title: Voicemail - Installing Cosessions on Windows 9x, NT4.0, 2000 Pro, and XP Pro.

here is the installation instructions for xp in that document:

Installing and using CoSession on Windows 9x / NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP

1. Introduction
The CoSession remote maintenance software is used as:

• a tool for accessing the voicemail’s interface from another PC.
• a tool for transferring files to and from the voicemail system.
• a technical support remote troubleshooting tool or customer tool for remote configuration and maintenance of multiple sites.

This document outlines the requirements and gives instructions for properly installing CoSession 7.0 with Windows 9x, NT 4.0, 2000, and XP systems. Following the installation steps below is necessary for CoSession to work properly on all operating systems listed.

2. Requirements
The following are requirements of the system intended to run the CoSession 7.0 Viewer.

Operating system
The computer using the Remote program (viewer) must be:
• Windows 9x
• Windows NT 4.0
• Windows 2000 Pro
• Windows XP Pro

Computer
The computer used for the Remote must be an x86-based PC desktop or Notebook system meeting the minimum requirements for the chosen operating system.

Modem / Serial cable
An AT-command set modem is required for remote connections via modem. A Null-Modem cable is required for use in a Direct-Connection. Additionally:

• When using CoSession on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, COM ports can be initialized for use at up to 57,600 bps. Using those operating systems, COM ports cannot be initialized for use at 115,200 bps.
• CoSession file transfer operations perform reliably up to 38,400 bps.

3. Installation Instructions
The following instructions are recommended for all operating systems and required for Windows NT 4.0, 2000, and XP.
1. Insert the CoSession 7.0 Compact Disc in the CD-ROM drive.
2. Go to the CD-ROM drive directory and double click “Setup.exe”
3. Supply your name and company’s name for the dialog and click “OK.”
4. Click “Ok” to accept the default installation directory: C:\Insync\Csw

5. When prompted for install options, choose “Custom Install, “ and then click “OK.”

6. Clear the “CoSession for Widows Host” selection.

7. Confirm that “CoSession for Windows Remote” is selected, and then click “Install.”
8. Clear the "NetWare SPK," "NetBOIS," and "WinSock" selections.

9. Confirm that “Modem/Serial” is selected, and then click “OK.”

10. Continue by following the on-screen instructions.

Note: These instructions should replace the instructions in previously printed manuals.

The key to getting CoSessions to work with Windows 2000 or XP is as follows:

Add the following lines to the [386Enh] section of the SYSTEM.INI file before installing CoSessions.

[386Enh]
device=*vmcpd

Once you have made the change, save the SYSTEM.INI file, reboot the computer, and then reinstall CoSessions. Note: You can Edit the SYSTEM.INI file by Clicking on the Windows Start Menu and Select Run. In the Run Dialog Box type sysedit and select OK. Four screens will open. Click on the System.INI screen.

Hi,
Had same trouble, but mine was due to the faxing service. If I stopped or disabled the faxing service on win xp and 2000 before launching cosession, cosession worked great. But would crash if launched while the fax service was running.
Good Luck,
Dan

Some people have also reported problems getting CoSessions to work on a USB-Serial adapter (for those laptops w/o an HTG 9-pin serial).

I recently saw a PCMCIA-serial adapter advertised. That might work better than the USB adapters. Anyone used one?

I have a Bafo Technologies BF-810 USB to serial device that works fine with Cosession.

Is it possible for me to get Cosessions as well. I just picked up a customer that has an Elite IPK and after finally using the phone programming to change the IP address of the system (They moved and I upgraded their network so the IP address range was different than before.) so I could log in using WebPro. I come to realize that I can't seem to program the VM card through that. However, I did noticed that there is a network port on the VM card. Is it possible to hook that up on the network and login or do I still need cosessions?.Also Can Cosessions run on Windows 7? Or will i have to use XP to get it to run.

This is the first time dealing with a Key system, I'm just used to VoIP and basic business systems like Panasonic KX-TA. Thanks in advance.

I see you're in CO springs, my company covers that area if you need assistance.

Here is a copy/paste of part of a document I made for a co-worker:

Here's how to install co-sessions:

1. browse the unzipped folder, double click the CSS exe file, the
setup.exe file doesn't work, not sure why.
2. Choose CUSTOM install
3. un-check the option for COSESSIONS WINDOWS HOST
4. click "install"
5. un-check options for NETBIOS, NETWARE &WINSOCK
6. choose to continue without testing the modem
7. when it asks to enter a phone number enter any number here, you'll
delete it later.
8. it forces you to fill out 2 pages of registration info. put
anything here it doesn't connect to a server ever.
9. on the first page it asks for product serial number = 750380

You'll probably get a Microsoft error if you're running anything newer
than windows98 or 2000 pro, just click "don't submit" and move on.

The software should be in Programs/Insync/cosessions

When you open it, choose Setup/Serial setup and choose your com port
on your laptop to connect to the vm card.

You need a 9-pin null modem cable between your laptop and the vmail.

The voicemail could be one of 2 versions, the older ones connect at
19200 8, N, 1
The newer ones connect at 57600, 8 N 1

Once you get connected there is a login screen:

I also just transferred to a company that has a NEC Elite that needs some TLC but no one has a copy of CoSessions. If someone can point me in the right direction (or send me a copy) I would be appreciative.

Thanks,

You can buy Cosession on eBay. I got a copy for 47.00 plus shipping. It works fine under XP if you follw the install instructions on this thread. But when it prompts for the phone number to test the connection, just select cancel. It will finish the install without the registration.
