I have an existing ESIB card in slot 1 right now and need to add an ESIE card to it. However, I can't seem to program this change in MB 7-01. This is the only ESI card currently in the system. Please help! On site now

I think you have to make the slot 'non', then add the ESI(16).

you can either non it & add it back as a esi16
or
if i remember right if you have the sat software you could change it there. but it might split out the ports (ie the 1st 8 would stay what they were but the last 8 might not be in order)

You cannot change the type of ESI where ports 1 & 2 reside as these are the "attendant" ports. You will have to default the CPU with the new card added, or, add an ESIB-8 in another slot.

You can use the SAT program to change the ESI card for Slot one, it does require re-programming the first 8 ports. Without using the SAT IPKII is correct the only way is to default the system.

thanks for the replies. . .
Yeah, I couldn't change slot 1 to ESI16 or NON. It's like it's permenantly programmed. (this is programming through the phone). So, I programmed slot 2 as an ESI16, removed the existing ESIB card from slot 1, attached the new ESIE card, and installed both cards in slot 2. The catch is that there is still an ESIB card “programmed†in slot 1, but there is not an actual card there. I reprogrammed all of their extensions on ports 13 ~28 and redid their button programming. Fortunately, their station programming was very basic and not hard to redo. I believe they only major thing they loose from this is the ability to adjust the system time. Oh well. I'm going to try to get a MIF card installed for them, so I can correct the jimmy-rigged programming now in place.
Thanks again for your help!

If you would have mentioned that slot 2 was open I'm sure the replys would have instructed you to shelve the ESIE or return it and purchase a 2nd ESIB for that slot, it sure would have made things easier.
