I am trying to upgrade a 8100 from 2.50 to 3.00 and it is not taking. Anybody else having a problem, am I doing something wrong? Another Tech. said they have had problems and to use a certain thumb drive, is this true. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has been identified that a number of SV8100 CPU’s, manufactured prior to May of 2008, will not allow the upgrade operation from certain USB drives. NEC has tested several different USB drives and recommends the following models:
Lexar Firefly 1GB
Lexar Firefly 2GB
Sony Micro Vault – Click 1GB
Sony Micro Vault 4GB
PNY Attache 512k
PNY Attache 2GB
SanDisk Cruzer Micro 1GB
Note: Any drive that has U3 technology installed cannot perform an upgrade.

To locate the manufacturing date the CP00 must be removed from the SV8100 cabinet. The top side on one edge of the PC board will show a white sticker. This sticker will show the year/month of manufacture. Anything with a date of 2008/05 or previous can possibly have the upgrade issue.

I had similar issue, ran down to store and bought 4 1gb drives.

The 3rd one I tried worked... mickey mouse drive, go figure.

You all know what NEC stands for right? So I'm not surprised by the lack of consistancy of what would and wouldn't work on the same System.

I normally use a Kingston 512 Thumb Drive for all my upgrades, and so far no problems.

The PNY Attache 1G works fine, also. I use one and another tech here does also. We haven't had any issues.
