Hi, I'm new to managing NEC Electra Elite IPK phone system so I'm hoping that someone on this forum can answer some of my questions.

1. Does NEC Electra Elite have a GUI base programming software?

2. Can you telnet into the system? If so, what is required?

3. Can you perform remote station programming from the master phone (system attendant console)?

4. Can you program DID with the NEC Electra Elite?

Thanks in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. SAT software is needed for PC programming along with a MIFM-U10 or MIFM-U20.

2. See number 1, additional a modem can be installed on either MIFM card for dial-up

3. Programming can be done using phones on ports 01 and 02, there is a code to program from any port but NEC does not recommended it.

4. DID's can be used with the right hardware

Dan,

Thanks for the quick response. Good info,.

Do you know the code for remote station programming? What model or type of card/hardware would I need to service DID?

Thanks.

We have an NEC dterm 80 Electra Elite IPK and have recently changed our on hold message and our night greeting. Now clients are unable to leave a message. We have used : speaker; 43; 300; speaker. and speaker; 43; 222; speaker; to no avail. We are a small office and have no individual mailboxes set up

Does the phone just continue to ring, or do callers get a greeting and cannot leave a message?

The code you stated above will forward the ext you are on to another number (300, 222 etc...).

You need to know what the Pilot number to voicemail is so you can forward the phone to that number.
Typically this is ext 200 or 300. Try dialing 200 or 300 (or as many numbers as you feel up to... smile ) until you get the voicemail system.

You want to forward the phone to this number.

Keep in mind, doing this still may not solve your issue. Typically trunks are set in system programming to delay ring to the voicemail pilot. It is very possible when you installed your Music on hold device you may have shutdown the voicemail system somehow. You may need to get a technician on site to figure things out. Without seeing your exact setup i could only guess at what has happened to cause the Voicemail not to pickup outside calls.

I have had a technician; twice and specifically to make sure the system was ready to take music on hold MP3 box and the new night and weekend message. The box was installed and we did get messages, but after the night and weekend message was put on the phone that receives thoses messages, the calls are transferred to the daytime hold message without allowing the client to leave a message.
Thank you for your suggestion. We will try it.

Sounds like you didn't get exactly waht you wanted from the tech.

Some companies are flexible ab out stopping back in for a quick re-do, some want to get paid no matter who's fault it is.

Be nice and explain the issue and you may get a freebie fix up from your vendor.
