although not a hugh fan of Mozilla, I though I would give my opinion of the Firefox browser.

I wanted to quit using IE because of the security flaws it has. I tried the free versions of Opera and Firefox browsers. Opera is really good as well, but I got tired of the adds. Once I started using Firefox, I really got to like it. I added a couple of "extensions" or add ons for some additional features liked tabbed browsing. Now all my sites are opened on seperate tabs within the browser instead of opening a seperate browser like IE. It also has pop-up blocking and a built in Google search bar. If you are looking for a new, clean browser, then give it a try.

Thanks for the tip. I just downloaded FireFox now and am trying it out. I got so sick of IE---now I'll just delete it and be done with it.

The reason why I was keeping IE was because of my bookmarks. FireFox just asked for all of the bookmarks and downloaded every one of them---COOL...

wouldn't hurt to keep IE on your machine anyway. there are some sites out there that will only be display on IE. Also found out that some of the web browser programming applications work best on IE, like call pilot. Just make Firefox your default browser. Just make sure if you download any extensions, they are from trustworthly sources. Certain extensions, when installed togther, screw up the browser. I just download the tabbed browser extensions, and that seems to give me everything i want.

I uninstalled all of IE yesterday--luckily I used a program that I could easily undo---which I did just now. QuickBooks HAS to have IE in order to operate. Duhh.... Always err on the side of caution my old grandmother used to say.

When I clicked on the QB icon, I got an error message saying something to the effect that it couldn't open any files in QB unless there were IE files present. I immediately re-installed the IE and QuickBooks came up as normal when the icon was clicked on. I don't really know any more than that.

Just visited the intuit web site. IE5.5 or greater is required for QB to operate. No way around it. You learn something new every day!

Well, I fooled around with it a bit this morning---got the tabbed browser--and re-did my bookmarks--and it seems to work really good. I like the way I can bring up my favorite tabs--go get a cup of coffee--and all the tabs are up & running, when I get back, & all are able to be accessed immediately. Very nice for a guy who still has a 56K modem.

I just downloaded this and I must say it has to be the slickest browser I have ever used. It will do everything IE will do and more. So much easier to use- don't think I will use use IE again.
Thanks for the link Zane. Now to test their E-mail client. Can't stand the bugs and security holes in Outlook.
