I am trying to get some SMDR data through to a Windows 7 Pro machine from a Toshiba CIX on port 6000 and its not working. I can verify that the SMDR is coming out of the CIX by using my laptop (XP Pro) using hyperterminal and listening on port 6000 however doing the same thing on the Windows 7 machine does not work. I checked, double checked, and checked again that the settings were correct, disabled firewalls and everything else I could think of disabling, all to no avail. Like a dummy I didnt do the simple thing like trying a different port or two, but I will get back on site soon and try that. Any body have any other suggestions?

Can you ping the Windows 7 machine and get a response? Can you do a port scan to see if port 6000 is open? If you run a netstat -a can you see an open connection on port 6000 from the ip address of the device sending the data? My guess would be a firewall issue. Is there any additional spyware/antivirus software installed?
