Hi: We have an Aleen VME4000 voice mail system (4 lines - 10.0 Hours version 6.14). It was rock solid until 2 days ago. The local power company fixed a pole outside our building and had to take our power out for an hour or so. After the power came back on - the voice mail system came back on as well. Now it gets in a mode whereby it won't pick up incoming calls (set to answer on first ring) unless I unplug the power to the unit and plug it back in. It will then answer as it should but eventually it goes back to not answering and needs another reset as I descibed above. The phone system it is attached to is a panasonic DBS72 pbx. I am hoping someone can shed some insight as to what has happened. Regards, Dave Hudson Plexcore LLC

The power supply on the older units like that would go bad and if the power fluctuated to much would corrupt the memory. Sometimes a reorganization (610)of the memory will fix it other times you need to initialize (654) the system and start over.

Hi: Thanks for the information. Would it be worthwhile to try and replace the power supply? We have had the vme for about 4 years I guess. I may try and do the memory reorganization. Regards, Dave Hudson Plexcore LLC

Yes Dave I should have mentioned that the power supply should be replaced. There was a replacement available to dealers. The replacement had larger caps so that it would stabilize the DC power better if the AC fluctuated to much.

Any way to default a password protected unit? I have a ver 7 series VME4000, but the password is not known and is not default. I hate to throw it away.
