Hello all,

I am not sure if this is the correct forum to ask this question, but here it goes.

Our office is looking for some live CCENT training for our telecom techs as we move forward into the VOIP realm. We would like to stay away from training that focuses on "teaching the test". we are more interested in retention. is anyone aware of live CCENT training that does not just teach people to pass a test? We are also thinking of purchasing some self study materials to reference after the live training. Our telecom guys dont want to become network techs, but would like to be able to discuss issues intelligently with both customers and the actual network analysts that work with them. Any guidance or ideas would be most appreciated.

TIA,

Your probably better off starting at entry level vendor neutral certs like COMPTIA's Network+. This is going to give your guys a better overall fundamental understanding of networking in general. The CCENT is Cisco's entry level cert but aside from some basic networking and IP fundamentals its Cisco specific. You may want to take a look at Teracom Training's data and VOIP courses which are available in DVD. Some very good training is also available from CBTnuggets and Train Signal. The Train Signal series are excellent in my opinion.

I also forgot to mention the CTP cert which is another valuable course to anyone involved in VOIP.

Thank you for your input, i have since been to the train signal website and plan on making a case for it to management.
